How to Recover Deleted Files on Windows

It's a scenario that we all hope will never happen, formatting a hard drive and forgetting about that important folder with all our holiday photo's/work documents or whatever you wished to have kept. Sadly, this happens to most if not every computer user at some point in their digital life, A computer virus attack/trojan/power cut...the list of reason goes on and on! But luckily, it's not the end of the road for you and you can still salvage those important files using EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard.

 

So let's get started

 

In this article I will assume you don't already have EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard install. You can get it here https://easeusbackup.com/products/easeus-data-recovery-wizard-14-5

 

The first thing you'll want to do is of course install the software, this is installed the same as any other, just double click the downloaded file and follow the on screen instructions.

 

In the the right of the window you will see an orange shiny button with the word “Activate” and a lock next to it. Click that.

 

 

On the next window you will have the option to enter your license key, this is the alphanumeric 25 character key you received when you purchased the software. Once the key has been entered, you can press the blue “Activate” button and your software is now registered and ready to use.

 

 

Start recovering lost date

 

Before we get started, please note that it's very important to run the data recovery software from a drive which you are not trying to recover files from, it will work without this but a lot less effective.

 

Select a location to scan, this can be any drive connected to your computer. At the bottom left you can view the progress

 

 

You can pause or stop the scanning process by clicking the pause or stop icon on the bottom of the circle progress notification.

 

 

You will see a list of folder, these folders will contain deleted files which the software can attempt to recover. You have to wait until the scan has completed before you can view recoverable files. Keep in mind that not all files can be recovered, many factors come in to play when it comes to recovering a deleted file.

You can select the files you want to recover and click the blue “Recover” button on the bottom right of the window as shown below
